This vintage tinplate police car dates from the 1960s and is an excellent example of the classic Japanese tin toy era. Modelled on a Chevrolet Impala, it features black-and-white police livery, “POLICE” markings to the bonnet and boot, and a brightly lithographed interior with striped seats and a detailed dashboard.

The toy includes its original tin body, plastic windscreen, metal bumper and friction-drive mechanism (unrestored). The license plate “I-K-62” and the style of lithography strongly suggest manufacture by Ichiko (ICHI) or one of the major Japanese tin toy makers of the period.

This piece shows wear from play and age, including surface scratches, areas of rusting, a dented windscreen frame and missing roof lights/sirens. Despite this, it remains a lovely example of mid-century tinplate design and displays well.

Perfect for collectors of vintage Japanese tin toys, Americana, police memorabilia or mid-century automobilia.
