A beautiful Regency period sarcophagus tea caddy, dating to around 1820–1835 and crafted in richly figured flame mahogany with boxwood stringing and ebony edging. The caddy retains its original brass lion-mask ring handles, turned bun feet and two internal lidded tea compartments, along with a rare surviving hand-cut crystal mixing bowl with star-cut decoration.
The shaped sarcophagus lid lifts to reveal a rosewood-trimmed interior with twin tea boxes and a central well lined for the bowl. The crystal bowl rings clearly when tapped, typical of early 19th-century lead crystal. A classic example of Georgian tea furniture, full of charm and nearly two centuries of history.
